📘 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

🔹 Are you affiliated with An Garda Síochána or any government agency?

No. This platform is completely independent and not affiliated with An Garda Síochána, the Irish government, or any official organisation.
We do not receive funding or direction from any authority. This is a community-driven space created by individuals who care about long-term missing persons and public awareness. While we sometimes refer to official reports or link to news articles, we act entirely on our own initiative.

🔹 Do you deal with cases involving organised crime or gang-related disappearances?

No. We deliberately avoid such cases for one important reason: the safety of everyone using this forum.

Even though many disappearances in Ireland may have complex backgrounds, our platform focuses solely on long-term missing persons who are not known to be connected with criminal organisations or dangerous networks. If a case presents a potential risk to users (e.g., intimidation, retaliation), we will not host discussion about it.

🔹 Is this forum safe to use? Are users anonymous?

Yes. We have taken several steps to protect users' privacy and safety:

The forum does not retain IP addresses of visitors or posters.

We use a custom script that automatically deletes IP information from posts, logs, and user records.

You do not need to give your real name or email to participate (unless you choose to).

We do not share any information with third parties.

If you have concerns about digital safety, you can also post through anonymous browsers (e.g., Tor) or submit tips via our anonymous submission form (see separate section).

🔹 Who runs this forum?
This forum is run by independent volunteers. We are not journalists, politicians, or law enforcement officers. We are individuals who believe that no missing person should be forgotten, and that the public has a right to remember, research, and ask questions in a respectful environment.

🔹 Can I share theories or speculations?

Yes, but with limits. If you're sharing an idea, memory, or personal interpretation, please label your post clearly with [SPECULATION].
We welcome thoughtful discussion — but this is not a place for conspiracy theories, accusations, or wild guesses. Moderators may remove or edit speculative posts if they violate the forum’s respectful tone or legal boundaries.

🔹 Are families of the missing involved in this forum?

Sometimes, yes — but not always. We aim to be a supportive and respectful space that is open to everyone: family members, friends, researchers, and members of the public.
Please always write as if a loved one of the missing person might be reading. Empathy is central to everything we do.
